PRK Surgery - Day 1b, 2, and 3

The rest of day 1 didn't go so well. Pain and blurry vision...all to be expected, but very unpleasant. Day 2 was more of the same, Vicodin most definitely does not work on me!

Day 3, I woke up this morning, and my vision was much better. The pain and the scratchiness was almost gone. Still have some focusing issues, but I am well on the road to recovery. I can tell I am not seeing as well as I was on Day 1, but they told me to expect some regression in my vision when the bandage lenses came out, so again, I am not too worried. I am worried about a test that I have coming up (due by Tuesday), and I need to get some study time in.

I drove around the block this afternoon, and even though I am still a bit light sensitive, I didn't feel like I was putting myself or anybody else on the road in danger. So far, so good.

PRK Surgery - Day 1

Just had my first eye exam, I am seeing 20/40! As things heal, my vision will continue to improve. :)

Having trouble focusing on things, my eyes don't seem to want to. I am typing this without really even looking at the screen. Bright areas of light bother me, but if the light is constant around me, it doesn't seem to cause any problems. I have been legally cleared to drive, just as soon as the light sensitivity and focus issues are under control.

All is well - PRK over with

I am pleased to say that eye surgery went fine. Just the fact that I am able to type 8 hours after having it done says a lot. My vision, not so very clear...but it should get there. My font is as big as I can make it, and it is still fuzzy, but I can see way better than my old uncorrected vision. Tomorrow and the day after I have heard won't be so well, I'll regress and be in more pain, but for today. No worries.

At 8:15, I showed up for the surgery, and was given a battery of exams. Look into this, now look at that, now blink blink blink, look again, now look here, look at the red dot...so on and so forth. Then I was taken to the surgery waiting room, where they gave me numbing drops, and put on the oh so beautiful hat. I had to wait an hour, then they had me sit in a very comfortable chair to relax before the procedure. The actual surgery started at 10:00, and was over by 10:10. Pretty quick! Jason watched, he won't tell me how he really felt about it, but due to the fact that he won't say, I am sure it freaked him out a bit. The hardest part for me was the smell...burning flesh is never pleasant. Hopefully the next few days go well. :)

Yikes

Fell off the bandwagon again...it's been a month and a half since an update!

All is well here. Just not much to blog about. Last semester ended, summer term began. Mother's day was wonderful, but not much blogworthy.

My PRK surgery is only 9 days away. I am nervous and excited. A kinda compare it to having a baby. The delivery is hard and painful, but look what the overall outcome is! With PRK, the recovery is painful, but I just can't be fully sure that I will have clear vision in a day, a week, or if it is going to take 6 months.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see...
